I would like to know – for example in the context of a succession - where a physical person or legal entity holds its accounts. Can the BCL help me?
The BCL, as a member of the Eurosystem, solely opens accounts for credit institutions, public bodies or for other participants in the market by providing them with liquidity in the context of monetary policy operations.
Consequently, the BCL does not hold assets of physical people or of commercial societies.
In such a situation, it is suggested to address oneself, by post or email, to the entirety of commercial banks of the financial centre, by referring to the death certificate.
Luxembourg’s Supervisory Authority (L-2991 Luxembourg, (+352) 26 25 1-1, – https://www.cssf.lu/en/tracing-assets/) can offer help to those looking for more information in this area.
