Large-value Payment Systems

Due to their structure and set-up, some payment systems are designed for large-value transactions. These systems provide real-time settlement of transactions for their gross value (there is no netting of the amounts to be paid and received by the participants in the system). These systems are Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) systems. The main RTGS processing the euro is T2.
